Inappropriate Baby Food Pairings: Avoiding Milk with Certain Foods
It is very good for the baby to eat and drink, but when drinking milk, there are some foods that the mother should not give the baby to use, to avoid losing the effect of milk, harming digestion and children’s health. See now what foods babies should not eat with milk…
Milk and citrus fruits
Milk is rich in protein, vitamin B2, while oranges are rich in vitamin C. The combination of these two foods causes the protein in the milk to react with the acid in the orange, causing oxidation.
This reaction makes the baby’s digestive system not absorb the maximum nutrients in the milk and makes the milk more difficult to digest.
If you want to supplement vitamin C for your baby, it is best to give your baby orange juice (lemon, grapefruit, kumquat) before or after drinking milk at least 1 hour.
Milk and porridge
Many mothers use this combination to increase the amount of milk tolerated by their babies, but this is not a way to bring benefits.
Milk contains vitamin A, while porridge is mainly starch; Lipoxygenase catalyst in starch will destroy vitamin A of milk.
If the mother regularly chooses this combination for her baby, the child will face the risk of vitamin A deficiency causing poor resistance, disease or mental retardation.
Milk and enoki mushrooms
Mushrooms are one of the nutrient-rich foods that mothers add to their baby’s nutritional menu. But if the mother uses enoki mushrooms, be careful not to feed them at the same time or right after drinking milk.
This is because this mushroom contains flammutoxin, a cytolytic and cardiotoxic protein that is detrimental to the baby’s digestive system, making it difficult for the baby to digest and absorb the nutrition of milk.
Milk and juice
Not only oranges, the combination of milk with fruits and juices is not beneficial for the baby’s digestive system.
80% of the protein in milk is casein. The combination of milk and juice will cause a large amount of casein to accumulate and precipitate in the baby’s body, making it difficult to digest and absorb nutrients.
Milk and medicine
Doctors always recommend that you give your baby the medicine about 1 hour before the time of drinking milk.
The reason is, milk easily forms a thin film on the surface of the drug; and the calcium, magnesium and many minerals in milk will react chemically with the substances in the medicine, forming unsaturated substances in the water.
Thus, the child could not absorb the substances in the medicine, but also could not absorb the nutrients in the milk, losing both the therapeutic and nutritional effects of the baby.
Milk and amaranth, cauliflower leeks
These vegetables are good for the baby’s nutrition, but they are rich in oxalic acid, which directly affects the absorption of calcium in milk, which is not beneficial for the baby’s body.
These foods are all very good for the baby, but when they are combined with milk, they become useless, counterproductive, and harmful to the baby’s body. Mothers need to pay attention when taking care of their baby’s nutrition!
