The Cooks River Fun Run is back for its 6th year on Sunday 21 June. The event is Strathfield Council’s annual fitness event, and offers a 5km and 10km race, as well as a 5km walk and 2km Kids Run. Starting in Freshwater Park, Strathfield, the out and back course follows the Bay to Bay cycleway along the Cooks River through South Strathfield. The course is predominately flat, giving runners a great opportunity to run a PB and test their fitness in the lead up to some of Sydney’s biggest races. The course is certified by Athletics Australia.

The event is also ideal for families and those who enjoy spending time outside, with the 2km kids run and 5km walk providing an event for everyone. New in 2015, participants can team up with a partner and enter a 10km relay. The relay starts with the 10km, and each runner will complete a 5km leg.

Early bird entries are available online until June 5. Register before then to receive the special discounted price of $25 for adults and $20 for children for the 5km, and $30 for adults and $25 for children for the 10km. The 2km Kids Run for children aged 12 and under is just $15. The 10km relay is $30 per team.

For the third year in a row, the event is supporting Bowel Cancer Australia, with $5 from each entry donated to assist with research and awareness for this important cause.

A free return shuttle bus for participants will run from Strathfield Station to Freshwater Park on the morning of the race, departing every 15-20 minutes from 6:45am until approx 8.15am.

Stick around after the race for the presentation and kids’ activities and games, including a jumping castle and the Pass the Ball Competition as seen on Channel 9s Footy Show.
